7 Generations of Change - StoryMap & Environmental Impacts Dashboard

This project provided an interactive web-based mapping tool and StoryMap, enabling communities in the region to explore environmental trends and potential future conditions. The dashboard integrates advanced spatial modeling techniques with traditional local knowledge to offer a comprehensive assessment of natural hazard risks and long-term environmental changes. Key features include:
-
Data layers representing past, presentt, and projected environmental conditions
-
Interactive scenario exploration for evaluating potential land-use and resource management decisions
-
User-friendly design, making technical data accessible to a broad audience
The accompanying StoryMap presents a generational narrative to illustrate regional environmental changes and their implications. As part of this effort, we also visited stakeholders in the Chugach region to gather feedback on the StoryMap. Their insights helped shape the final product, ensuring it effectively meets the needs of local communities and decision-makers. The completed StoryMap serves as an accessible resource for understanding regional conditions and long-term environmental trends.
